Camp Pocono Ridge is a traditional overnight camp program which specializes in the development of children. We host children from 8 - 16 years of age in our overnight camp programs. Campers may choose to spend a 2-week session with us, or extend their stay in any of our 4, 6 or 8 week programs (pre-registration is required).
The overnight camp experience is one that is irreplaceable. Children who have been properly supported and prepared for an overnight camp program, and then successfully complete that same program return home more independent, self-reliant, and self-confident. This can be found in even the simplest of tasks such as taking care of their personal belongings, making their bed, or putting away their laundry.
Children who have experienced overnight camping speak up for themselves more in social situations, have a reduced fear, if any, of new situations or circumstances, and when faced with these situations adjust more rapidly. It has been reported to us time after time how children are more forthcoming in school, increase participation in extra-curricular activities and after-school programs, and most importantly more easily adjust to college as they mature. This is because these children have had the opportunity to experience their own independence, rely on themselves, try new activities and trust in their own capabilities within a safe and protected society such as Camp Pocono Ridge.
As parents, we want to teach our children independence, but we must first give it, which in today's world that can be a scary concept.Campers succeed because of support and encouragement from our staff, in a society that is without parents (at least their own).
Camp Pocono Ridge is a safe community. Camp Pocono Ridge is the type of place who will truly take care for your child, know your child, and enjoy being a part of your child's life. We have been in the business of children for 50 years, and we teach our children and staff to provide safety for each other in all aspects; mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. This allows parents to give their children the gift of independence within a safe community that gives parents peace of mind.
Camp Pocono Ridge takes the business of camping very seriously in that we take the time to get to know each and every camper in our care. We limit our registrations so that every staff member knows every camper from the owner/director to the support staff, each member will know your child by name, their parents names, home town and special interests. We don't simply take in children for summer camp, we engage children and provide our campers with the opportunity to grow as individuals within our camp family.
Overnight camp seem like a big step, but Camp Pocono Ridge makes that step easy and you will see it is the best choice for both you and your child.

Visiting Day: Friday, July 26, 2008 from 10AM – 6PM
Campers whose sessions end on this day invite their parents and families to camp for a special day of events. We call this Visiting Day as it give campers a chance to show their parents and family members what they have experienced while at camp, meet their friends and counselors, and experience a piece of what they will be talking about for a long time to come.
*Camp transportation home will not be provided on this day, so all parents are asked to pick-up their children, but plan on spending the day with us at Camp Pocono Ridge. Lunch will be served, activities will be planned and the pool will be open. This traditional event allows parents to meet staff and campers who have touched the life of their child. See special shows, presentations and events by our campers to celebrate the day. More news and information will be forth coming.
